One in a billion

20171210_090924One in a billion.  I read today that there are billions of posts on WordPress alone.  Wow!

So here goes one more to add to the billion.  I was searching through my photos and stumbled across this frosted rose.  I took this photo in December 2017.  I was surprised I still had roses blooming.  I guess in a way, it is one in a billion too.

It is staggering to ponder that almost seven and a half billion people inhabit this world, and I am just one of them.  Then I think about all the people that once lived on this earth in the past, or the ones yet to be born and the number is overwhelming and impossible for me to grasp.

And yet, though I am one in 7.5 billion people currently on this earth, God knows me.  And I don’t mean He knows me in the sense that He is aware of my name, and has heard of me.  He KNOWS me.  My every thought, disappointment, challenge, dream, hurt, or loss He is intimately familiar.  He knows what makes me tick, my passions, talents, and abilities.  He knows how many hairs I have on my head this moment.  He knows this about me and all the 7.5 billion people on this earth.  More incredible is the fact that he loves me; loves us all.

In spite of my hurtful words to others, lies I’ve told, things I’ve done.  He loves me.  I don’t have to be perfect and without sin before He would love me.  I may not be perfect tomorrow either, yet He KNOWS and still loves me.  Nothing I do surprises Him.  He loves me.

He loves me enough to grant me the freedom to choose Him and love Him back – or not.  He chose to love me and make it possible for me to have a deep deep relationship with Him.  Knowing God – being a Christian – is not about religion.  It’s about relationship.

And what a relationship!  There are no words to express the depth or width or height of this relationship with Him.  Being loved by God is beyond any experience I’ve ever had as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, or friend.  Nothing compares to loving Him and being loved by Him.

I pray for you as you read this that you too will experience the Father’s love that can only be found in Christ.  Jesus is amazing!  The Holy Spirit – words cannot express what a wonder He is.  And He lives in me.

If you don’t know Him, I’d be happy to chat and answer your questions.  If you are distant from him, having wandered away, reach out to me.  I’d be happy to share how He has lovingly and relentlessly drawn me back when I thought I was too far away.  He still loves you; never stopped and never will.

Blessings,

Deb
